Our approach

Fokus Medborgare is built to need very little from you. There is no account and no sign-up, the study content works offline, and your answers and progress stay on your device. We only handle information where it is genuinely needed for a feature you chose to use.

Information you provide

The app asks for a small amount of information during the short intro and in settings:

  • An optional first name. It is used only to greet you inside the app, and you can leave it blank or change it at any time.
  • Your language choice for the app and for explanations.
  • Your daily study pace (light, steady, or serious), which sets your weekly goal.
  • Whether you want a daily reminder, and when.
  • The text of a problem report, if you use the report option on a question.

Information stored on your device

Your studying lives on your device rather than in an account. That includes:

  • Which lesson cards and topics you have completed.
  • The questions you have answered, and whether you got them right.
  • Bookmarked questions and your list of wrong answers.
  • Mock exam results, including score, time used, and results by topic.
  • Your settings and study streak.

This data is not tied to a name, an email address, or an account. If you delete the app, the data stored on the device goes with it.

Information collected automatically

To keep the app stable and to understand how features are used overall, we may collect limited technical and usage information, such as crash reports, general app activity, and basic device information. Where this is used for analytics, it is kept in an aggregated or de-identified form and is not used to identify you personally.

Reporting a problem with a question

If a question or explanation looks wrong, you can report it. A report tells us which question it concerns and includes whatever you write in the message, so we can check and fix it. Please leave out personal details you would rather not send — the report only needs enough to find the problem.

Reminders and notifications

The daily reminder is optional and is scheduled on your device. You can turn it off inside the app, or withdraw the notification permission in your device settings, at any time.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Run the core features: lessons, practice, review, mock exams, and statistics.
  • Show your progress, readiness per topic, and weekly goal based on answers you actually gave.
  • Send the daily reminder if you turned it on.
  • Look into problem reports and correct the study material.
  • Keep the app working, fix crashes, and improve it over time.

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising. We share information only in limited cases: with trusted providers that help us run the app, such as crash reporting and app distribution, strictly to provide those services; and where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and the app.

If the app ever offers a paid feature, the payment is handled by the app store you installed from, under that store's own privacy practices. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Data retention

Study data stays on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. You can clear your progress from within the app, and uninstalling removes the locally stored data. Problem reports are kept for as long as we need them to review and fix the material.

Your choices

You stay in control:

  • Skip the first name, or change or remove it later.
  • Change your app and explanation language whenever you want.
  • Choose whether questions are shown in Swedish or in your own language.
  • Turn the daily reminder on or off.
  • Clear your progress, bookmarks, and results from within the app.
  • Manage notification permissions in your device settings.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the limited information the app handles. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but keeping the data footprint small is a large part of how we approach it.

Children

Fokus Medborgare is intended for adults preparing for the Swedish citizenship civics test and is not directed at young children. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and may notify you in the app. Continuing to use Fokus Medborgare after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
